2010 Pin Down A Cure
Blue Springs South Wrestling
On January 15th, the Blue Springs South High School wrestling team participated in a wrestling duel with Raytown South, and St. Joseph Central. While the events in the gym looked like any other wrestling event, outside the gym was a different story. The BSS Wrestling Booster Club was putting on a fundraiser to "Pin Down a Cure" for brain cancer. All the proceeds from the fundraiser will be given to beHeadStrong to further its efforts in the KC Metro area. The booster club sold event t-shirts and raffle tickets for many items donated by local businesses. The school also donated the admissions from the wrestling event to the fundraising cause.

The inspiration for "Pin Down a Cure" is A.J. Parker. A.J. is a brain cancer survivor who was a member of the BSS Wrestling team when he was diagnosed in his sophmore year. He loved to wrestle, but after going through this ordeal, he has learned that there is more to life than wrestling. A.J. has been an inspiration to everyone at Blue Springs South, and hopefully everyone that attended the event.
beHeadStrong would like to thank Blue Springs South Wrestling Boosters, wrestling team and the Blue Springs community for making the event a great success. The fundraiser brought in over $1,700 for the charity. All of this money will stay in the Kansas City metro area to help local brain cancer patients and their families.
